Hold Them Tonight

A tiny pair of shoes
Left by a tiny girl
Who left much more than that at the door
He paid a tiny price
To have her in his hands
But it's something she'll never stop paying for

Won't you hold her tonight
Won't you hold her tonight
Won't you hold the world's children in your hands
Who don't have a voice
Who don't have a choice
Who don't have the strength in them to stand

A frightened little boy
With a tearstreaked dirty face
After his world came crashing down
He crawled from the dust
To a lonely, ruined place
Where his family can't be found

Won't you hold him tonight
Won't you hold him tonight
Won't you hold the world's children in your hands
Who don't have a voice
Who don't have a choice
Who don't have the strength in them to stand

Cries will not be heard
From this precious little babe
She won't have the chance to live her life
She'll barely take a breath
Will never take a step
For she was deemed as someone else's strife

Won't you hold her tonight
Won't you hold her tonight
Won't you hold the world's children in your hands
Who don't have a voice
Who don't have a choice
Who don't have the strength in them to stand

Thrown out on the street
It seems the only place to turn
Is to a life of crime
Bounced from home to home
Until he was too old
For no one ever chose to call him mine

Won't you hold him tonight
Won't you hold him tonight
Won't you hold the world's children in your hands
Who don't have a voice
Who don't have a choice
Who don't have the strength in them to stand
